On October 15, Blackpool locked horns with Accrington Stanley for a League Two match and even though Blackpool scored first, they just could not maintain their lead as the home team was able to seal the victory by scoring 2 goals in the last few minutes of the game.

This result was rather controversial as Accrington Stanley was given a late penalty kick which ensured the victory for the home team and this penalty that was allowed was a fairly dubious one as it was not clear on whether or not it should had been given in the first place.

The head coach of Blackpool, Gary Bowyer was frustrated by the decisions that the referee made in this game and it wasn’t only because of the penalty kick but his frustration is also directed towards an offside call that was made after one of his players had already scored.
Blackpool’s Gary Bowyer expressed his frustrations after the match was over as he said:

“The linesman who, let’s say, was being intimidated all afternoon disallows a goal for offside. I’ve seen it again it’s not offside but we do well, we keep going and we score a good goal. I don’t think anyone in the building sees the penalty decision and I don’t think anyone in Accrington sees it’’

‘’If anything it’s a foul on Tom Aldred as he goes to defend at the front post but there’s no excuse for their winner. That was poor from us and they’ve been told that. In the last 30 or 45 seconds of the game, not to track back is unacceptable.”

This is the 5th defeat of the season for Blackpool as they continue being in the bottom spots of the English League Two with only 3 victories secured so far.
