Blackpool’s Transfer Business Done for 2017 Summer, says Bowyer
Gary Bowyer says that Blackpool may have just completed their summer transfer window business well ahead of schedule.
However, he says that it would be tough to rule out any opportunities that may come along Blackpool’s on the transfer deadline day. Blackpool are taking on Oldham Athletic in the upcoming league match. Blackpool have made an indifferent start to the season, which has improved in recent weeks. The team started the campaign with back-to-back 2-1 losses, but they were able to claim a much-needed victory over MK Dons at Bloomfield Road. After this first victory of the season, Blackpool picked up a valuable point through a 3-3 draw with Doncaster Rovers.
The club are expected to get back into the top flight from League One, but the experienced Bowyer will know that it is easier said than done. The limited budget of the club means that he has to work within his means. It has been a busy summer for Blackpool, as they have brought in 14 players over the summer.
He says that the biggest challenge as far as the new season is concerned is the integration of these players into the squad in a seamless manner. The bedding process may take a couple of weeks, but Blackpool need to keep the points tally ticking over.
“It is just a case now of what is out there, what is available and if there is anybody out there who can improve the squad. If there is, then maybe – but if I went with what we have now I would be happy with what we have got and with the business we have done. Obviously that changes if there are to be any outgoings as well.It is 14 players, there has to be a bedding-in process. It is about being patient with them, working with them and allowing them to get better, but the quicker they can do it the better it is,” said Bowyer.
